Waste Away is an educational game that focuses on explaining how the water treatment process works. The player controls a water droplet that is contaminated. The player will go through different levels that represent different parts of this cleaning process (From the sink to Lift Station, Classifier, Aeration Basin and U.V. Treatment).
“Thousands have lived without love, not one without water.”
– W.H. Auden
The main objective is to go through the water treatment process to get “cleaned” and go back into the system.
The Process
My main responsibility was to work on Level 5 (U.V. Treatment). I had to do some research to understand how the Ultraviolet water purification treatment worked and make it as accurate as possible in my level. Since I did not find any 3-D models related to this process, I had to create my own. I recreated the U.V. treatment base (the white model) in Maya using reference images. For the lights, I downloaded a simple model and added point lights to it.
