Purpose
This project was made for one of my classes at University of Baltimore. Mighty Mysids is an educational game aimed to explain what a Mysid Shrimp is and show why they are so important for the ecosystem of the Chesapeake Bay. Players need to aim to have as many mysid shrimps as possible by the last day to win!
For this game we were given research articles and a lot of information about the mysid shrimp from the Chesapeake Bay to make a game explaining or showcasing the importance of these tiny animals. The research included many of the behavior that the shrimp presented while the biologists were investigating them.
My main responsibilities were to create a single level that would be used for the entirety of the game, and create graphics for the UI. I researched about the Chesapeake Bay to be as accurate as possible with the elements I wanted to include in this level, including corals, rocks, and even types of food included in the level.
