Game Design Grad (2021). Mental health advocate, and serious games lover. Venezuelan living in the U.S.
I came to the U.S. as an international student in 2017 to study my dream career; game design. I have a particular interest for FPS, horror, puzzle, and rhythm games, as well as games that help raise awareness about social issues.
Furthermore, I strongly believe that video games are a great and positive tool not only for entertainment but also for learning. I started learning English at the age of 10 because of my desire to understand what was going on every time I played Pokémon, which led me to start developing my English vocabulary, to the point where I was very advanced by the time I started taking more formal classes in my late teens. I wish at some point in my life to develop a game that discusses mental health issues and to raise awareness and share the culture of my country Venezuela.
Coming to another country without your family is hard, but I have worked hard to understand the concepts and elements of Game Design to become a good Game Designer. And what I do not understand, I research and ask people knowledgeable in said topics. I would love to be given the opportunity to develop my skills, learn, grow and hope one day to be able to work on a game that impacts people lives’ positively the same way the games I have played impacted me.
