I am glad to have you here!
My name is Cristina, and I was born in Venezuela. In 2017 I came to the U.S. to follow my dreams and pursue a major in gaming. I am an aspiring level designer passionate about telling stories through any environment. Also, I am a big mental health advocate and I believe that games can help reduce the stigma towards this and many other sensitive topics.
Video games had a big influence on my life. When I was younger, I would play Pokemon non-stop. At the time, translations to my original language were not available. Therefore, I spent a lot of time playing without knowing what I was doing. At some point, I got stuck in the game, and I did not know what I was supposed to do next. I was just running in circles! That is when I decided to restart the whole game but, this time, having an English-Spanish dictionary next to me every time I played. Doing this with most games (even after they started releasing translations), made it possible for me to learn English on my own. Who would have thought that I could learn English thanks to video games? (My mom could not believe it either)
I strongly believe that video games are an astounding tool for users to learn, de-stress, and raise awareness about many different topics while having fun!
